Moving On Up!
It was towards the end of the week, I was finalizing paperwork begin a networking class scheduled for 8 weeks. I wasn’t thrilled, but hopeful that maybe something would come out of it. I was feeling depressed and thought only good things would come out of it.
That evening I received a call from a recruiter. He found my old resume in his system from years earlier. He wanted to know what my current work situation was and asked me to forward a new resume. He told me I might be a good match for a contract position he was filling for a client. I listened intently to his charismatic description, he made it sound like I really can do this! His enthusiasm made me hopeful, excited and scared! It would be the first job since I was laid off, a first after 17 years in my “safe zone”.
My phone interview with the hiring manager went well. I was honest and told her that I was not familiar with that system, but that I know many other similar systems and I can pick it up rather quickly. Within a day, I had a start date and prepared for this new chapter in my life.
